Mamafesta family festival helps mothers and newborns

The Mamafesta family creative festival has become our partner in charity. Together we will create conditions for the successful treatment of children and mothers with heart defects at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

One Heart for Two charitable project by Krona Foundation aims to create the Unit of Intensive Care for Mother and a Newborn at Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Along with Mamafesta, the project got support from local organizations: Ilovecoffee, Meseta Espresso Point, contemporary beauty centre HAIRHOUSE. Every visitor may donate using the charitable QR-code.

Anya and Elena, the organizers of the festival, say:

“The mission of Mamafesta is to strengthen families’ unity, and to spread the ideas of happy parenthood and modern education. Charity project ‘One Heart for Two’ by Krona Foundation is sharing the same values. We think that participation in charity is crucial for socially active citizens. We are happy to join the project and offer our partners and participants the opportunity to take part in philanthropic activities.”

There are times when pregnancy and childbirth impose significant risk on lives of a woman and/or a child. About two thousand expectant mothers get into the risk caused by heart diseases every year.

Amosov Institute recently started a program called Obstetrical Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. Now, expectant mothers receive medical help from cardiologists, obstetricians, and perinatologists all at once. Women successfully undergo surgeries even during pregnancy. Accompanied by a multidisciplinary team, they safely give birth to their babies.

For such cases we plan to create two specialized chambers, where moms with their babies can stay together after the surgery. Right now, they stay separately: the mother is delivered to Intensive Care Unit and her baby is in Infant Department with one of the relatives.
