Chocolate as Psychotherapy

For the Christmas holidays our Foundation organized charitable workshops for children to make chocolate candies

Contact with chocolate has a powerful therapeutic effect, according to psychologists at the Center for Medical, Psychological, and Social Rehabilitation Assistance to Children. The aroma, texture, color, and taste – all help to calm and distract from past experiences.

Therefore, on the eve of the New Year holidays, we organized an interesting event at the Lviv Handmade Chocolate for children and parents who have experienced the traumatic experiences of war. We invited children undergoing treatment at OHMATDET, families of internally displaced persons, children with disabilities, and their parents.

Children learned about the history of chocolate creation, its types, and manufacturing methods. Then they transformed into professional chocolatiers: working with various molds, special equipment, and ingredients. Each child showed their creativity and made candies limited only by their imagination.

This was both a celebration, a learning experience, and emotional relief. It was also an opportunity to help. The children packaged their creations into gift sets and sent them to our defenders on the front line along with video greetings.
